Echoes of the Matrix traces the quiet movement of images as they shift from lived experience into layered form. Rooted in photography and printmaking, the work reflects a process of translation—where memory, place, and culture are carried through repetition and change. Each piece holds the imprint of its origin, an echo shaped by time, distance, and the act of making.
Artist Statement:
For years, I have explored the world through mixed-media work rooted in photography and printmaking. After living overseas for over twenty years, I came to recognize how limited my West Texan perspective was. I am drawn to immersing myself in different cultures, experiencing their rhythms, and witnessing beauty in the unexpected. These moments—often quiet, sometimes fleeting—form the foundation of my work.
My practice centers on the matrix as both physical and conceptual origin. Like memory, it is a site of translation where images are transferred, repeated, and transformed by my process. Each print becomes an echo of its source, carrying traces of place, culture, and experience while remaining open to variation and change. The work resists singularity: instead, it reflects an ongoing process of reinterpreting.
Ultimately, this work is grounded in the belief that beauty resides in difference, in tradition, and in the many ways people construct their lives.
